Our Waka Trip

The Junior Syndicate had a fantastic trip last week learning about Waka.

We enjoyed learning about (and had a turn doing) some weaving, chalk drawing and going to Te Papa.

We had a fabulous time learning about the Waka.

Check out the fantastic photos from
the day.

Looking at the Wakas at Te Papa.

Learning about the Pake (Maori rain cape) and taking turns wearing them and doing a Pukana!

Did you know?  They were great to wear in the rain and for hiding from your opponent!

Pukana!

We sailed in the Waka.

And we spotted a majestic Stingray, he was feeding in the lagoon!

At the end of an awesome day, Hutt Central School was presented with a sail to be hung at school.

What a fun day of learning!
